The Learning Arbor coop was founded in the fall of 2007 and is comprised of 25-30 dedicated homeschool families who meet on a regular basis and share a common vision to provide educational opportunities for our children. While the focus of this coop is to provide educational classes for students in upper elementary and above (students 10 and up), we do offer classes for preschoolers and up so that siblings and families with students aged 8 or 9 can also attend.

This is an inclusive group where adults and children strive to respect differences and work towards understanding each other and the world. The talents and unique gifts of each member parent are combined so that thoughtfully planned classes and activities are offered to every child in the coop. Parents do not need to have experience leading a class, although everyone will assist in at least one class per session as preparation for being able to teach a class in subsequent semesters.

Members work together to generate ideas for classes that will meet the needs of the coop members. Parents are expected to become part of the community by being active participants.

For the first four years, we met at Hope Chapel in Apex, NC, which graciously allowed us the use of 5 classrooms, two large rooms and direct access to an outdoor playground. Then in 2011, we moved to a new location: Westwood Baptist Church, 200 Westhigh Street, Cary, NC 27512 (off of Cary Parkway between Old Apex Road and Waldo Rood Blvd.).
Please Note: We are not affiliated with Westwood Baptist or any other religious group.

NEW FOR 2012-2013: We are moving the Coop meeting time from Wednesday afternoons to Tuesday mornings, in order to better accommodate the schedule needs of both our members and the church.

The Learning Arbor Coop will meet on Tuesdays for two 5-week sessions. The Fall Semester dates are:

Session I: Begins on September 11, 2012 and ends on October 9, 2012.

Session II:Begins on October 16, 2012 and ends on November 13, 2012.

Classes will start promptly and are scheduled for 9:30 to 10:45 and 11:00 to 12:15. There is a 15 minute snack break between classes. During this free period, students gather to unwind and reconnect with each other. Members are expected to arrive 15 minutes early (at 9:15) to help set up for classes and to stay for 15 minutes (until 12:30) to clean up the church after classes are completed. There is an outdoor playground and parking lots where children can play (under supervision) while parents set up or clean up.
